Only in Jax

There’s plenty of things to do around the First Coast this weekend. Here are some of our top picks.

Pick Up Local Favorites at the Jaxsons Night Market

Fans of local farmers markets will love newcomer Jaxsons Night Market, an open-air market that takes place the third Thursday of each month downtown at the corner of Laura and Adams Streets. Stop by anytime between 5:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. to check out the latest from local craft breweries, street food vendors, local farmers and artisan and craft makers.

New to Jacksonville and looking for things to do? Or maybe you’ve been here a while and think you’ve done everything worth doing. You may think you know the First Coast, but read through this list and you may find you don’t know Jax.

1. Get face to face with lions, tigers and bobcats at Catty Shack Wildlife Ranch.

Home to Siberian tigers, lions, cougars, black leopards and other wild cats, Catty Shack Wildlife Ranch is a nonprofit sanctuary open to anyone who wants to get up close and personal with their favorite felines. Visitors can stop by on varying days of the week for a 45 minute guided tour, with tickets starting at $10 for adults, $5 for children.

Catty Shack Ranch is located at 1860 Starratt Road.

2. Brew your own batch of craft beer.

The success of Jacksonville’s craft breweries may have you day dreaming of one day brewing your own unique batch of beer. Dream no more - Engine 15 Brewing Company offers a brew-your-own program that caters to both new brewers and experienced brewers who don’t have the time to monitor every step of the brewing process.

You can brew your own recipe, or choose from one of Engine 15’s more than 100 tried-and-tested recipes, then bottle your own beer with personal labels.
